10 Seconds That Changed My Life
Iain M. MacLeod
“Thursday, June 15, 2017, will be embedded in my memory forever. I woke on that summer day eager to face the world with my usual free-spirited independence but would end the day lying in an Intensive Care unit of a hospital in Aberdeen, Scotland, with a ventilating tube down my throat."
In my book I describe the various stages of my hospital experience as well as my personal journey through joy, sorrow, frustration and elation, as well as the enormous reality of going home to a new normal. By writing the book I hope that it helps to encourage those with special needs to never give up, to always remember that they are able, not disabled, and have unique abilities to share with the world.
There were many times I felt low and said to myself, “Why me?” but I can truthfully say, without a word of a lie, the one thing that kept me going was retuning to my studies with the Open University. I proudly admit I am an OU addict!
